1961 Impala Convertible - A Complete Off Frame Restoration

This car originally came from Montréal and was driven by the customer to Vancouver.  It is a 6cylinder automatic.  We disassembled the car, separated the frame from the body and put it on our frame rack, then sent the body to the strippers.  Upon return from the strippers we determined just how much rust damage there was.  Heavy tar, rivets and and filler were used prior to our accepting the car in order to control the rust problem.
The owner purchased a good frame that was converted to match the old one and body panels were made by us as they are not available.  Countless hours were spent on metal forming and shaping.   Metal finishing would have been too costly,  so fillers were used to a point.  The progress pictures, and the finished pictures, show the end results of this long and difficult process.
This car began very heavily rusted and became a mint condition collector.

(Please note that this customer wanted this very car, no matter the work involved, it had to be that very car)
