There
are two ways to approach the cosmetic repairs & upgrades
that are required by most Vintage Vehicles.
The first is to leave the vehicle as intact
as possible,
while making whatever repairs are required to the
various components of restoring. For example: Body
Work, Refinishing, and the final Prepping to Finishing
the project.
This is called Rebuilding
The second approach is to Disassemble the entire
vehicle, often to the last nut and bolt. Then over
haul virtually all the mechanical assembly, Strip all
metal, Remanufacture as necessary. Fabrication and
Replacement.
All
Metal Fatigue and/or Rust are completely eliminated.
In effect, the goal is to return the vehicle to a
condition as good as, or better than when it rolled off
the assembly line at the factory as
Brand Spanking New.
This is called
Restoration
